Aims
To establish a platform that acts, both in the initial stages and during reconstruction, in catastrophes and disasters, offering “psychological first aid” (PFA).
- Specifically, to provide ongoing psychological and social assistance to those who have been affected by catastrophes and disasters, paying special attention to vulnerable populations (children adolescents, dependent elderly people, and differently abled people).
- To reduce as much as possible the psychological suffering of the most vulnerable populations by providing accompaniment, support, and stress coping techniques through cultural, sports, and leisure activities.
- To design activities and support social interventions that ensure the mental health of the affected population in order to discover future mental pathologies in the medium and long term. To monitor the severity of the pathology and refer it to professionals.
- To organize as many activities as necessary to meet the psychological needs of those who have been affected, both through immediate and preventive intervention.
- To offer affected communities the possibility of relying on PFAs volunteers to help with the regeneration and ongoing reconstruction of a “healthy sociocultural community” for as long as necessary.
- To arrange specialized training for professionals to provide adequate psychological care, both in emergencies and in the medium to long term, to those who have been affected by catastrophes and disasters.
- To stablish information networks and collect field information that allows for the identification of psychological, care and social support needs, both therapeutic and preventive. To provide information, if necessary, and help those who have been affected to access institutional services and assistance.
- To provide support to other entities assisting those who have been affected by catastrophes and disasters.
- To provide strategies and support to humanitarian workers and participants.
