Taken actionsThe following activities are carried out to achieve these objectives:
- Volunteers are trained and prepared in advance by professors from the Master’s Degree in Migration (MUM by its initials in Spanish) and by psychologists who have been working with refugees for a long time, as well as by members of the association.
- To promote the training of neighborhood agents, both in security and community development.
- To develop pilot projects for local sustainable development.
- To extend the internationalization of the experiences being developed.
Our activities carried out chronologically are:
November 11, 2024: Initial contact is made with the representative of the students enrolled in the Master’s Degree in Migration (MUM) to discuss the possibilities of paticipation in the first psychological aid.
November 23, 2024: The first meeting is held with interested MUM students.
November 29, 2024: An organizational meeting is held in the morning with the MUM volunteers. In the evening, psychological first aid FPA training begins for psychology and MUM students.
The first training course was carried out in seven sessions lasting between 4 and 4.5 hours (November 29, 2024; November 30, 2024; December 13, 2024; December 20, 2024; January 24, 2025; February 7, 2025; and February 21, 2025). Total: 30 hours.
A total of 47 participants completed the training course.
December 9, 2024: we contacted the town councils of Cheste and Albalat de la Ribera, holding informative meetings with both and laying the tracks for future collaboration. In an atmosphere of mutual interest and full availability for collaboration, the foundations were set for a close, mutual relationship for the benefit of those most vulnerable affected by the disaster of October 29, 2024. It was hypothesized to extend the collaboration to neighboring communities.
January 14, 2025: first meeting with Bombers pel mon. Although we had been in contact since November and their response had always been positive, we waited for their rescue and support activities to aid the population affected by the DANA storm to slow down. As soon as they could, they met with GERMANOR and we suggested designing joint projects and agreed on their participation in our training.
March 13, 2025: second meeting with the Albalat de la Ribera Town Council. In a very productive meeting, joint activities were agreed upon. This activities were planned for children and young people from the municipality as well as those from neighboring municipalities. Activities were also planned in collaboration with the municipality of Cheste.
April 8, 2025: meeting at the Provincial Council of Valencia. The president of the association met with the deputy for Social Welfare with the aim of proposing new lines of collaboration and improving psychological care in emergency situations for the various town and city councils.
April 22, 2025: third meeting with the Albalat de la Ribera Town Council. At this third meeting, dates were set for the activities planned in La Murta of Alzira and the possible participation of the youth music band.In addition, the signing of an agreement between the two institutions was discussed.
May 5, 2025: the second course in psychological first aid (PFA) training began for psychology and MUM students. It consisted of 20 hours and was taught on May 5, 6, 7, and 12, 2025.
May 8, 2025: the first joint meeting between the supportive councils of Cheste and Albalat de la Ribera and the GERMANOR association took place. The objective was to develop a joint plan for intervention, psychological assistance, and emotional support from the three entities to offer it to the villages that needed it.
May 24, 2025: our team of volunteers visited La Murta of Alzira to familiarize themselves with the terrain and to time and coordinate the different activities. Various leisure and nature exploration activities were prepared, with psychological supervision. In addition, Bombers pel mon and the canine unit participated in these activities.
May 30, 2025: the first meeting was held with the Albal Town Council. After a smooth meeting and a deep understanding, dynamic and promisimg lines of collaboration were developed.
June 20, 2025: a meeting was held with the GERMANOR volunteer team to coordinate and finalize the activities to be carried out at La Murta of Alzira.
August 1, 2025: second meeting with the Town councils of Cheste and Albalat de la Ribera to coordinate the first joint activity and offer it to the Town Council of Albal.
August 5, 2025: GERMANOR meeting with the Town councils of Albal, Cheste, and Albalat de la Ribera. After discussing needs and the possibilities of providing assistance, we agreed to draw up a more precise schedule for the coming autumn months. Our first objective will be to share and convey through music the optimism needed to uplift our emotions and feelings in the following months.
